File Syntax and Content

Files are named m[M]z[Z]_[A], where
  • M is the star's initial mass (in solar units),
  • Z is the star's initial metallicity (in mass fraction) and
  • A is an additional character specifying a particular feature of the computed model (i.e. overshooting).
Two files are available for each stellar model, namely
  • file.hrd : observational information, including
    • model : model number,
    • Ph : phase number (2 for MS, 3 for RG, 4 central He burning, 5 AGB, 6 C burning, ...),
    • age : age of the star (yr),
    • M : total mass (in solar units),
    • logL : surface luminosity (log solar units),
    • logTeff : effective temperature (log10 K),
    • logR : surface radius (log solar units), different from the effective radius which is given by $R_\mathrm{eff} = [L_\mathrm{eff}/(4\pi \sigma T_\mathrm{eff}^4)]^{1/2}$
    • logroeff : density at the photosphere (cgs),
    • logMloss : mass loss rate (log10 Mo yr-1),
    • surface chemical composition (log10 mass fraction except of H and He4, prefixed by ls)
      * file.struc : contain information about the evolution of the structure :
    • model : model number,
    • logLH : H burning nuclear luminosity (log10 solar luminosity),
    • logLHe : He burning nuclear luminosity (log10 solar luminosity),
    • logLnu : neutrino luminosity (log solar luminosity),
    • Lnucl : total nuclear luminosity (L = Lnucl + Lgrav - Lnu, in solar luminosities),
    • menv : mass coordinate at the bottom of the convective envelope (in solar units),
    • logTenv : temperature at the bottom of the convective envelope (log10 K),
    • mcore_b : mass coordinate of the bottom of the first convective zone (it corresponds either to the core or to the flame, in solar units),
    • mcore_t : mass coordinate of the top of the first convective zone (it corresponds either to the core or to the flame, in solar units),
    • mHBS : mass coordinate of the maximum nuclear energy production in the H burning shell (in solar units),
    • mHeBS : mass coordinate of maximum nuclear energy production in the He burning shell (in solar units),
    • logTc : central temperature (in K),
    • logrhoc : central density (in cgs),
    • central chemical composition (log10 mass fraction, prefixed by lc)
